The Kardashian add a new phenomenon to their mythology: Kylie Jenner’s meme Rise and Shine. So much so, that the three words have already been registered as a trademark by the klan to make economic profit from it.
To recap: a couple of weeks ago, Jenner posted a video on her YouTube channel in which she appears on a tour of her offices. In the final stretch, the celebrity enters her daughter Stormi’s room to wake her up. When the light comes on, and with a camera already inside waiting to record the instant, Jenner sings the words «Rise and Shine» to a Stormi who is already standing and fully awake inside her crib. A fan shared the clip of the moment on Twitter this past Monday and then the meme was born.
Rise and Shine’ went from being a fun clip that tested Jenner’s vocal qualities to one of the most important viral milestones of the year. Numbers don’t lie. According to TMZ, the hashtag #riseandshine reached 1 billion plays on the TikTok app in just a few days after the first video was released. That’s not to say that Jenner’s original video had so many visualizations, but that thousands of people used the hashtag to publish new versions of the meme, whether it was recreations of the original instant or other videos inspired by it.
Kylie jumped on the wave and posted many of the memes on his Twitter and Instagram accounts. The reproducing a remix of the ‘Rise and Shine’ in a video starring his daughter Stormi that already accumulates about 25 million reproductions. And judging from what happened this week, the celebrity has followed the advice of her sisters and her mother and manager, Kris Jenner.
Rise and Shine’ is already a registered trademark of Kylie Jenner, according to E! News. It’s something that will allow you to market products that carry the words ‘Rise and Shine’, including belts, coats, dresses, shoes, ribbons, gloves, hats, jackets, underwear, pajamas, calectines, swimwear and, of course, cosmetics.
Capitalizing on the success of a meme is a well-known strategy in the Kardashian family.
Kim Kardashian’s sobbing face has already been marketed by Kim through iPhone cases, emojis packs and sweatshirts. Jenner has already started selling «Rise and Shine» sweatshirts for $65 a unit. Where? On her official website. But don’t bother. They’re already sold out. The power of the klan.
